Virginia founded Berkeley Place Strategies in early 2015 as a way to connect with interesting people and companies. BPS works with a select number of clients who value candid and practical counsel on communications and public affairs issues.

Virginia has more than two decades of experience working in technology, media and politics. She specializes in working with companies and executives whose businesses are highly disruptive to entrenched industries, are poised for accelerated growth, have significant regulatory implications, or generally seek to broaden influence on policies at a local, state, or federal level. She has the unique ability to distill complex issues into actionable concepts for key stakeholders. Virginia has deep expertise in crisis communications and supporting high-profile litigation matters. She has spent her career working in the public sector and with publicly traded and privately held, venture-backed companies.

Most recently, Virginia was a co-founder and Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications, Government Affairs and Strategic Advancement at Starry, Inc., an advanced fixed wireless technology developer and internet service provider focused on building competitive, affordable, high-quality broadband across United States.

Prior to Starry, Virginia served as Senior Vice President of Communications and Government Relations at Aereo, where she spent three years guiding the company’s corporate communications, advocacy and lobbying efforts, leading up to its U.S. Supreme Court case. Prior to joining Aereo, she was Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at Rubenstein Communications in New York City. Virginia has also served as a deputy press secretary for New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, where she led communications for the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition and managed a portfolio of city agencies including the NYPD, FDNY, Department of Education, and Law Department. In 2010, Ms. Lam Abrams served as deputy campaign manager and communications director for the Republican nominee for NYS Attorney General and was recognized by The Capitol as one of the magazine’s “40 under 40 Rising Stars in New York Politics.”
